Wet Room Design & Installations

Wet rooms are a practical solution where accessibility, ease of movement, and simple maintenance are priorities. When designed and installed correctly, they can work well in both compact bathrooms and larger spaces, offering a clean, open layout without thresholds or enclosures. At Larimar Bathrooms, we install wet rooms as part of full bathroom renovations or as standalone upgrades.

Wet Room Design & Installation in Wokingham, Crowthorne & Binfield

We design and install fully tanked, level-access wet rooms for homeowners across Wokingham, Crowthorne, Binfield and the surrounding Berkshire area. As a family-run bathroom company with over 40 years' combined experience - and tilers by trade - we build wet rooms that are properly waterproofed, cleanly finished and made to last. Karl and Dan are on every job from the first measure to the final grout line, so there are no subcontractors and no surprises.

A wet room is one of the most rewarding bathrooms we install, but it's also one where the workmanship really matters. Get the tanking or the falls wrong and you store up problems for years. We take the time to plan and build it correctly, and we're happy to show you our recent work in and around Wokingham so you can see the standard for yourself.

What Is a Wet Room?

A wet room is a fully waterproofed, open-plan bathroom where the shower area is level with the rest of the floor - no tray to step over and, if you want, no screen or enclosure at all. The whole room is tanked (sealed against water) beneath the tiles, and the floor is gently graded so water drains away naturally.

The result is a space that feels open and modern, is easy to clean, and works for almost anyone - from a young family wanting a smart second bathroom to an older homeowner who needs step-free access now or in the years ahead.

The Advantages of a Wet Room

  • Step-free, level access - no tray or lip to climb over, which makes it safer and far easier to use for anyone with limited mobility.
  • Future-proof - a wet room adapts as your needs change, which is why so many homeowners choose one as a long-term investment.
  • Easy to clean - fewer enclosures, seals and awkward corners mean less scrubbing and fewer places for mould to take hold.
  • Feels bigger and lighter - an open layout makes even a small bathroom feel more spacious.
  • Great for smaller or awkward rooms - a wet room can make use of a space that a standard bath or enclosure simply won't fit.
  • Adds appeal to your home - a well-built, modern wet room is a genuine selling point.

Our Wet Room Installation Process

Every wet room we build follows the same careful, proven process. Here's what to expect when you work with us.

1. Home Visit & Design

We come out to you, look at the space and talk through what you want. We'll advise honestly on what will and won't work — drainage position, whether the floor can take the falls, the best layout, and tile and fitting choices. You get a clear, no-obligation quote with no pressure.

2. Strip-Out & Preparation

We remove the old bathroom carefully and prepare the space properly. This is where the groundwork happens: getting the floor level and structurally sound, positioning the drainage, and forming the correct falls so water flows exactly where it should.

3. Tanking (Waterproofing)

This is the most important stage, and the one people don't see once it's finished. We fully tank the room — walls and floor — with a proper waterproofing system, paying particular attention to the joints, corners and the area around the drain. Done right, this is what keeps water where it belongs for the life of the bathroom.

4. Tiling

Tiling is our trade, and it's where our work stands out. We tile the walls and floor in your chosen ceramic or porcelain, in any format, with clean lines, even spacing and neat cuts around every fitting. A wet room lives or dies on its tiling, both for looks and for how well it sheds water — so we take our time and get it right.

5. Fitting & Finishing

We install the shower, screen (if you're having one), taps, and all the fittings, then seal, test and clean everything down. We don't leave until the room is finished properly and you're happy with it.
